Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico

Friday, about noon, we took off for the weekend. Our voyage would normally be drive up to Lake Powell, with boats and camping gear. Not this time, this year we drove south to Rocky Point, in Mexico. We stayed at the Sonoran Sea, which was quite nice. Nice and quiet. A little too quiet.
Once night time fell, on our first day, we were a little disappointed. We were on our Patio laughing while playing a drinking game and were told to keep it down. The whole place was about 25% occupied… Our neighbors upstairs were told to turn their music down. That kinda sucked.
My nightstand was stamped with “Made in America” on the inside in the drawer. How funny is that? hahaha
We also found out that the hot water heater was on a different circuit. When it was finally found on Sunday, Jaime and I found out that the hot water didn’t reach our bathroom. Boooo!!!!!!
Really though, for the price that we paid, six of us, for $100 each, for four days, that’s a nice luxury condo for $25 a day. You can’t beat that!
One day, Jaime just wanted to go into town and buy massive amounts of fresh fish and shrimp, we all jumped into the car and Rob drove us through town and started haggling and giving the vendors a hard time. We got a great deal and vendors even peeled, deveined and butterflied.
We ate like kings that night and weren’t too full! Later we went over to the Boobar, the bar that Camille and Jaime went to for Jaime’s bachelorette party. It was actually pleasant. I thought it would be a shit hole. I don’t know when it happened, but there is no smoking allowed in bars in Mexico. I think cigarettes cost even more down there too. How funny is that?

Las Vegas

Jaime and I went to Las Vegas with little planning to watch Lynyrd Skynyrd poolside from the M Resort and Spa. Thanks to my mom. It was pretty awesome.
We spent the next day, stuffing my face at a buffet, then trying to score some tickets to see the Mr. Olympia. We went to the Orleans resort and asked for tickets, they cost $150 each. So needless to say, I didn’t want to pay that much to see some dudes in thongs.
On our way back, one of the shocks on the car got messed up and we had to stop in Boulder city and get it fixed. Those guys at Big O tires got us home for nothing. I recommend them!
P.s. Driving off into the sunset, not as cool as it sounds.

Gifted? Blessed?

So. I work for Business and Decision as a contractor to act as the Information Security Officer for the Arizona Department of Education. The rule is that all contractors must work a minimum of one full year prior to making the transition from contract to permanent.
Three months ago I was hired on as a contractor and tomorrow, I start as an FTE as the official Information Security Officer.

Damien’s First day of High School

Well, Damien really enjoyed his first day. I had to get him a few other school supplies last night. Like shorts, a calculator and a laptop. Most of his books are on line. I’d let him use my iPad if it supported adobe flash.
Anyway. Good first day. He did miss the bus home so I had to drive up there and get him. Haha.

What The!!! Really?

I brought Damien to Deer Valley high school today. To register. He starts school on Monday. Things were well until we got to secretary number 2. She must of thought I kicked her dog or pissed on her leg or something. She flipped me such an attitude.
It even got to the point that I had to clearly and firmly tell her that “I don’t appreciate your attitude”.
So, thoughts afterwards that I had. Is she like this just to me or to everybody? if it’s to everybody, then I blame her and her leadership… Whoever her supervisor is. If it’s just to me, well… I’m wondering why. I didn’t see this attitude toward everybody.
I’m watching you Nikki Lichlyter of Deer Valley high school.

Leg day

It’s been so long since I have done legs. I’m amazed they are still strong. I got up early, headed to the gym and took a good look at what my new LA Fitness had for leg workouts.
The leg press machine poles are longer than the one I was familiar with. So I could go heavier! But since it has been so long since my last leg workout, and I always regret the intensity and weight I use for the next few days, I kept it light. I only did 900lbs on the leg press.
I also did a lot of shoulder work too.
I bought some supplements today. I take Kre-Alkalyn
The combination really powers me up and gives me energy in the early morning to not just work out, but keeps me sweating most of the day too. I have challenged myself to do more cardio and I’ve been on it every time I’ve been to the gym so far.

New Gym – Day 2

So I went back to the same gym and this time I started out with cardio. I went for about 12 minutes this time. Slowly bumping it up. I actually got on 3 different elliptical machines. The first one squeaked real bad. Then the second one didn’t work. Then finally I was able to pump out my cardio.
I worked my back and went all intense. Super heavy weight. I did my biceps too. Felt great when I left.
I think I may try another LA Fitness on Bell and 51st Ave. Tomorrow, I take a break from working out.

When I did my change of address form, I got some coupons for 10% off at Sears. We did some searching and found some awesome deals and we bought 2 TVs. I feel that I’m finally in the current decade (somewhat). No more giant honking large tube televisions for me! woot woot!

New Gym

I went to the gym today, new experience definitely. I haven’t been to another gym in a very long time (with the exception of the gym/facility in Jamaica). Nice and early, I drove to the LA Fitness at Thunderbird and 43rd ave. At first, when I walked in, I thought “hey, where are the free weights?” I’m not a big machine fan as I can usually max out most machines. But I did find them in the corner. Not too bad. It’s nice seeing different equipment sometimes.
The weights there are not rubber coated, so they do clank around when you start stacking the barbells. Sounds motivating to me.
I worked out chest and triceps. Did some cardio too. About 10 minutes worth. Felt great afterwards.
