Mercedes

Mercedes

My mom was born in the Philippines on May 5th, 1947. She told me stories about how her dad would yell at her and make her study hard and have her get good grades. She finished school and nursing school and left to come to Montreal to get a better life, as her dad wished. When she came to Montreal, she was 20.

My mom told me stories of how she met Nervita (her best friend) and how they’d go clubbing. Nervie (Nervita) met Dave Miner (Uncle Dave) and my mom met Carmelo DiFede. Carmelo and Mercy fell in love and alas, I was born. Carmelo wanted to move everyone to Italy, but my mom thought about all her education and her father’s dream for her and declined. They eventually parted ways.

My earliest memory of living in Montreal was at this place here. You can see the buildings that don’t match. I was in that building when it was on fire. We moved next door (the building just to the right of the buildings that don’t match).

My mom eventually bought a house that you can see here. She met a man named Gary Robert Walsh and they eventually married. After a few years, my brother, Patrick Michael Walsh was born.

After a few years of fighting, my evil step-father moved out to California. Where he died. Mercedes was now a widow.

My mom was a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital which you can see here. She retired as of May of 2009, after working there for 30+ years. She frequently visits Phoenix Arizona and Las Vegas Nevada. At least twice a year.

She’s on Facebook here.
